Bio

Sofia Exarchou is a Greek film director and screenwriter. Her latest feature film ANIMAL premiered at Locarno Film Festival, where it became recognizable. ANIMAL also won the Golden Alexander at the 64th Thessaloniki Film Festival.

In 2014, she participated in the Sundance Screenwriters & Directors’ Lab. PARK, her first feature, premiered at Toronto IFF and was selected at San Sebastián IFF, where it won the New Directors’ Award. Since then, it has participated and won awards in numerous international film festivals (Rotterdam, BFI London Festival, and more).

Sofia studied electrical engineering at the Athens Polytechnic, film direction at the Stavrakos Film School and theatre at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York. She graduated in film and audiovisual studies from ESAV in Toulouse, France.
