Bio

Ula Pontikos, a Polish cinematographer and National Film and Television School graduate, is a sought-after filmmaker who consistently pursues visually distinctive storytelling, experimenting with light and technology. In 2015 she was invited to join the British Society of Cinematographers (BSC). Her debut feature, Weekend (2011), became a hit, winning the Audience Award at SXSW and over 20 international prizes. She later received the Sundance Cinematography Award for Lilting (2014).

Ula earned an Emmy’s nomination for Outstanding Cinematography for Russian Doll S2, and was also honored with the NFTS Sue Gibson BSC Award in 2022. In the recent psychological thriller The Man in My Basement (2025) she focused on crafting a striking visual language in which shadow, light, and framing express the shifting power dynamics and emotional intent between the characters.
