Bio

Michał Łuka is an experienced director of photography for both commercial and cinematic projects. Michał specializes in advanced cinematography techniques for CGI and VFX productions.

Michał worked on Netflix’s animated miniseries THE LIBERATOR (dir. Grzegorz Jonkajtys), created using the new and unique Trioscope technique. He shot the feature drama PRIME TIME (dir. Jakub Piątek), which premiered during World Cinema Dramatic competition at the Sundance Film Festival 2021.

Two of his international films premiered in 2017, including the Bollywood thriller ITTEFAQ (dir. Abhay Chopra) and the feature-length documentary, CALL ME TONY (dir. Klaudiusz Chrostowski). CALL ME TONY premiered during the DOK Leipzig Festival and was screened at the world’s leading documentary film festival, the International Documentary Filmfestival Amsterdam (IDFA), where it received the ARRI Award. In 2014, Michał was nominated for the Laszlo Kovacs award at Camerimage for his short LAUGHTER IN THE DARK.

In the commercial field, he worked with brands such as CROWD1, McDonald’s, Lovela, Biedronka, and Nike. He is also known for collaborating with Polish music artists. His credits include music videos for Smolik, Daniel Bloom, and Mikromusic.

“Phantom Liberty,” the music video promoting an expansion for the Cyberpunk 2077 game featuring Dawid Podsiadło, has been awarded a Silver Prize at the Golden Lions in Shanghai.
