Damian Kocur

Bio

Damian is a director, screenwriter, and cinematographer. A graduate of the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School in Katowice, he is currently pursuing his PhD at the Łódź Film School. Damian is also a member of the European Film Academy.

As a filmmaker, he aims to convey genuine and credible emotions on screen, with his main goal being to capture the authenticity of the characters and their stories. His latest project, UNDER THE VOLCANO, was named Poland’s official Oscar entry and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

His full-length feature debut, BREAD AND SALT, had its world premiere in the prestigious Orizzonti section of the Venice International Film Festival, where it was awarded the Special Jury Prize. Another one, AS IT WAS, was selected for the short film section at the Cannes Film Festival and is nominated for the European Film Awards in 2024.

His short film BEYOND IS THE DAY won several awards, including Best Short Film at the Trieste Film Festival, the Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival, and the Kraków Film Festival.

In addition to his film work, Damian is an acclaimed commercial director, having collaborated with clients such as Huawei, Nationale-Nederlanden, Tymbark, Okocim, Smyk, Allegro, and more.
