Bio
Marcin Filipowicz is a director specializing in emotionally driven, coming‑of‑age cinema. A graduate of Directing at the Krzysztof Kieślowski Film School (University of Silesia in Katowice), he also completed the Documentary Program at the Wajda School. His signature is a keen, observational eye—keeping the camera with his protagonists and capturing the details that define their turning points. A vital throughline in his work is the father–child relationship, used to question traditional models of masculinity and open space for other possibilities—evident in the short film Echo and in his feature debut Braty (2022).
For Braty the received the Grand Prix at the Opolskie Lamy Film Festival and the Polish Arthouse Cinemas Association Award, cited for its sensitivity in portraying responsibility. He was also named Best Director for Chłopcy z motylkami and earned awards for the documentary Trampkarze and the short Echo (Grand Prix at New Horizons). He has directed commercials for leading brands including IKEA, mBank, Orange, and Huawei. He is currently developing the feature adaptation of Łukasz Orbitowski’s Inna dusza (“Another Soul”). With Marcin on board, expect an honest, award‑winning authenticity.
