Monika Lenczewska is a cinematographer based in the US and Europe, she was named by Variety as one of the “Top 10 Cinematographers to Watch” in 2016. She recently completed LABYRINTH, a film directed by Brad Furman starring Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker, and has started production in Italy on the FX series TRUST based around the J. Paul Getty III kidnapping of 1973, written by Simon Beaufoy and executive-produced by Danny Boyle.
Prior to LABYRINTH, Monika worked on the Icelandic feature UNDER THE TREE, directed by Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson, which premiered at the 2017 Venice Festival and TIFF.
In 2016, Monika had two features premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival: neo-noir thriller MESSAGE FROM THE KING, directed by Fabrice Du Welz starring Chadwick Boseman and Luke Evans, and Sofia Exarchou’s powerful Greek film PARK, developed out of the Sundance Lab.
Monika had the rare honor to premiere two films simultaneously at the Sundance Film Festival (2014): IMPERIAL DREAMS, directed by Malik Vitthal starring John Boyega, and DIFRET, a film tackling the Ethiopian tradition of female abduction into marriage, directed by Zeresenay Mehari and executive-produced by Angelina Jolie. She received Best Cinematography nominations at both Sundance and the honorable Camerimage Film Festival for DIFRET.
